Elements Ensemble joins Teatteri Sujo's summer residency!

Elements Ensemble is coming to Teatteri Sujo's 2026 summer residency!

Elements Ensemble is a performing arts group from Kuopio. In its work, the ensemble is mainly interested in exploring different elements and materials, and in how society has shaped materials, and vice versa. For the group, elements can be both intangible and tangible. The group wants to create high-quality performing arts for a wide variety of spaces and events, without forgetting our traditions.

The core group consists of circus artists Maiski Tiainen and Katarina Suviniitty and dance artist Mimmi Herd. The members are keen to stretch the limits of their own skills towards other art forms, and they welcome professionals from different artistic fields to join their productions.

Two members of the group are coming to the residency: Mimmi Herd and Katarina Suviniitty.

Mimmi Herd

Mimmi Herd is a dance artist from Kuopio who graduated from the dance programme in Outokumpu. She has a long background in folk dance, which led her firmly towards contemporary dance. Mimmi is interested in the boundaries between art forms and in physicality. In Elements Ensemble, she is excited about future collaborations, creative processes, learning from others and using elements to create different worlds in the group's work.

Katarina Suviniitty

Katarina Suviniitty is a circus artist, musician and cultural producer graduating this spring, with a strong background in dance. Sustainability and a long-term approach to work are important to Katarina, even as she wants to develop as a versatile artist and to surprise herself. Different materials and their impact on society are a theme Katarina particularly wants to explore in Elements Ensemble's work.
