A euro from every Egokatastrofi ticket goes to protecting Ylpässuo

One euro from every ticket sold to Teatteri Sujo's Egokatastrofi has now been given to nature.
The money went to Ylpässuo in Kiuruvesi, an area owned by Luonnonperintösäätiö, the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation. Ylpässuo is a small-scale and beautiful aapa mire in the north-western corner of North Savo. According to the foundation it holds a wet fen dominated by water horsetail, which is rare in this region, and the view is broken up by little islands of forest that have been left to themselves.
Willow tits and cranberries both do well there and on its edges. Willow grouse are still seen on the mire, the willow tit, a bird now in decline, busies itself in the woods along its edge, and the cranberry crops heavily.
Ylpässuo was protected in 2020 and the protected area is 11 hectares. Luonnonperintösäätiö protects the land it buys permanently, and it hopes to acquire about three times as much again in the middle and northern parts of the mire.

So thank you to every single person who came, and to everyone we worked with. Together we are helping to save a small piece of Upper Savo's nature💚
